Session Allocation for Four Year Old Kinder
Each child/parent is sent an allocation of sessions form with the offer of a place for the following year. This form asks parent to nominate 3 preferences for how they would like their child to attend the 4 sessions (eg 2 full day, 4 half days) and on which days. It also asks whether lunchtime care is required and whether there is an interest in extra sessions if they become available.
The original form should be filled in and returned by the nominated date with a copy made and retained by the parent. Session Allocation is done by a subcommittee, which includes the enrolment secretary, the kinder director (4YO teacher) and one other committee member. Input may also be sought from other members of the committee of management and/or the 3YO teacher. In the allocation of sessions consideration will be given to:- applications received by the due date, an appropriate mix of previous year's 3YO group with new children, an adequate balance of am/pm sessions for each child, the boy/girl ratio, friendship groups/interactions, attendance for at least one session of music, family commitments including work, childcare ,other children etc. Every attempt will be made to ensure either 1st or 2nd preferences are given however no guarantees can be made. Those who receive their 3rd preference will be given first option on extra sessions if they become available
Changing Sessions once allocated
After session allocation and during the year, circumstances can change for families and requests are made to swap sessions with other children. Permanent swapping of sessions is allowed, and can be organised between parents but MUST follow the procedure below...
Submit request in writing to Kinder director (4YO teacher) for approval as there may be issues (some of which are listed above for initial session allocation) to be discussed/considered. If approval is granted, it is the parent's responsibility to inform in writing, both the enrolment secretary, fee secretary and 4YO teacher of the swap, and the date on which it will commence.
Allocating Extra sessions that arise during the year
A list is made of those parents/children who indicate an interest in extra sessions on the allocation forms at the start of the year .This list is kept by the enrolment secretary and the 4YO teacher retains a copy. Parents may also make requests for extra sessions during the year and they will be added to this list. Priority will be given to those who received their 3rd preference for session times and by the date the initial request received (i.e. 1st on list). Consideration will also be given in extenuating circumstances such as parental illness and the needs of a specific child.
