- Develop skills of independence in leaving the parent and joining the group.
- Develop an awareness of group living, practising ways of coping within a group environment and forming
worthwhile relationships with other adults and children. - Explore and develop sensory awareness intrinsic in learning in the early years.
- Practise and extend skills in the following areas:
- self help and physical independence.
- language - both expressive and receptive.
- cognitive skills through first hand exploration and questioning.
- concentrating and application. fine and large motor skills.
Our 3YO teacher plans an appropriate program suited specifically to the needs of the three year old
children by:
- Observation of individual children and discussion with parents regarding their child's development and
interests. - Applying the knowledge and training in early childhood to plan experiences aimed at challenging and
extending skills. - Providing a warm, secure environment incorporating regular routines to assist children to feel comfortable
within the program.

Four Year Old Program
Our 4YO teacher communicates her program through a Program Journal, which is always available for parents to read. Children are closely observed and individual plans are implemented to consolidate and extend their interests and stage of development. The Kindergarten hall is used regularly for various activities that might require a larger space e.g. music, movement, drama, and also during inclement weather.
We provide a Program that:
- Is play based.
- Fosters children’s development of identity, community, well being, learning and communication.
- Creates situations that are personally meaningful to children so they are motivated to learn.
- Provides opportunities for them to be thinkers, problem solvers and inquirers.
- Focuses on the process not just the product.
- Provides interaction and experiences that promote self esteem and independence.
- Provides materials that are open ended and promote curiosity, creativity, problem solving and critical thinking.
- Encourages children to explore new areas, experiences and problems that consolidate and challenge their development.
- Encourages interaction between children, staff and families .
